In the reading discussing assessment and rubric, I came across this interesting website created by the University of Wisconsin Stout and it provides generic rubrics for several different type of assessment. As a special education teacher, I need to be very structured and detailed with my directions and expectations for my assessments. Providing a rubric for the students provides the guidance, however rubric can often be unclear to the students and mislead them. This site offered good generic rubrics with clear expectations for the students.

In this latest module, we discussed blended learning environments. Blended communities are learning communities that use both face to face and online learning session. In this reading that I found it talks about the challenges faced in the blended learning community. It also listed several of the benefits of a blended learning community as there being a high level of demand because of the blended communities convenience and flexibility. However, many of the students were dissatisfied with the level of participation in the blended environment. Although the students were dissatisfied in the participation in both the face to face and the online portion of the curriculum. It was a good read.

We read this week about synchronous and asynchronous communciation. This video does a good job of telling us about the difference between the two. Asynchronous is used when PLC are using discussion boards, blogs, socail networks, or anything form communication that doesn't have to be done instantly. Synchronous is face-to-face, telephone confernce, instant messaging or any time communication can be made at the same time.
